553,656. Steaming and crossing garments. UNITED STATES HOFFMAN MACHINERY CORPORATION. July 21, 1942, No. 10208. Convention date. Aug. 7, 1941. [Class 138 (ii)] [Also in Groups XIII and XXIII] A coat to be steamed and then dried is supported over a permeable fabric bag 23a placed over a metal frame 13 and is pressed against a wire cloth or like front 17 between two vertical rods 14 of the frame by adjustable vertical bars 32, 33 resiliently supported on cross bars 30 secured to a vertical rod 24, which is hinged at its lower end and which is held at its upper end by toggle levers pivoted to the neck 16 of the frame. The frame has adjustable shoulder brackets 20 covered with wire cloth. Above a base 10 is a dome 11 projecting inside the frame and connected with a supply of steam or hot air which, when the coat is in position, is forced out through the bag and through the garment fabric.
