A fabric ironing device comprises a heated body 3 with a curved smooth metal working surface 30 and a base 1 of flat elastically compressible material 2, e.g. silicon foam, whose thickness is greater than the camber of the heated body whose whole surface can be pressed into the base. The electrically heated body 3 is hinged to the base 1 and the parts are biassed apart by a spring 5 and may be swung together manually or by pedal operated mechanism.
