849,482. Embossing bottle &c. closures. COCA-COLA G.m.b.H. May 13, 1957 [May 12, 1966], No. 15196/57. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XVII] In container capping apparatus, e.g. crown corking, a stamping tool 5 is detachably mounted on the pressure-die 4 and has a platelike portion formed with apertures 6 to receive stamping members which have rounded portions protruding through apertures 6 so that they emboss the crown cork 1 as it is sealed to the bottle neck. As shown, the stamping members are balls 7 retained in the apertures by lips 5b. There are two concentric rings of apertures and, by suitably positioning the balls, the desired code can be embossed. The Specification includes the matter of Specification 849,483.
