848,979. Ribbon looms. BONAS BROS. Ltd. June 24, 1958 [July 2, 1957] No. 20803/57. Class 142(2). For weaving tape having a single-ply body and a split edge consisting of two flaps each having a true selvedge, weft is inserted from the split edge by two needles alternately, one needle laying weft in the upper flap and the other laying weft in the lower flap, both needles also laying weft in the body of the tape. The needles 16, 17 are carried by a head 19, which is reciprocated by a grooved cam. A housing 10, through which the head 19 slides, is turned between successive picks by a cam-operated link 11 to bring one or other needle into line with the shed. Two tapes may be woven one above the other, the head 19 then carrying two pairs of needles.
