Abstract

Dimers and trimers of acetylene, e.g., monovinylacetylene, divinylacetylene and butatriene containing impurities such as divinylacetylene, 1, 3-hexadiene-5-yne, butatriene, chloroprene, vinyl chloride and acetaldehyde are stabilised in the gaseous, liquid or dissolved state against the formation of solid polymers by the presence of 1-1,000 parts per million of a sulphide of a Group I metal, Group II metal, transition metal or hydrogen.
