Abstract

A pigment for use in paints is formed by comminuting an alloy of magnesium and zinc. In an example an alloy containing 10% magnesium and 90% zinc was broken up and ball-milled to a particle size of 10 microns in a lubricant consisting of a solution of stearic acid in solvent benzine or benzene.ALSO:A binary magnesium-zinc alloy containing 10% magnesium is broken up and then comminuted in a ball mill to a particle size of 10 microns in a lubricant consisting of a solution of stearic acid in benzene or benzine to produce a pigment.
