Class 52(2) In a railway compartment berth arrangement a bench-seat A and berths B, C are mounted on a frame 1, the seat A resting on a framing 2 carried at each end by rollers 3, 4 movable in tracks 5, 6 and having a back-rest E carried on levers 29 with rollers 30 slidable in tracks 31 on frame 1 and suspended from berth B by rods 33 so that when the berth B is lowered to night-time position the back-rest E is retracted. The berths B, C are suspended and articulated at their ends from frame 1 by links 7 pivoted to the frame at 9 and lower T-shaped links 10 pivoted to the berth at 11 and the frame 1 at 12, the third arm carrying a hole 13 to receive a locking bolt.
