Abstract
846,084. Heating resistors. SANGAMO WESTON Ltd. Aug. 29, 1956 [Oct. 4, 1955], No. 28275/55. Class 39(3). [Also in Groups XX and XXXVIII] A thermometric device for detecting icing conditions on aircraft comprises a resistance wire 14 on a former 15 of anodised aluminium covered with a casing 12, on which is wound a heater wire 16. The latter is preferably insulated with a covering of woven glass impregnated with silicone varnish, and the whole is enclosed in a stainless steel tube 17 with which the heater is in good thermal contact. The tube 17 is preferably compressed after assembly to avoid any tendency to form hot spots.
