Abstract

571,894. Hair-waving apparatus. POOK, H. W. M. Nov. 12, 1943, No. 18821. [Class 39 (iii)] Apparatus for electrically heating hair-waving clips comprises a casing 1 to which is attached a hinged cover 3 forming a frame for supporting heating elements 4. Each element consists of a porcelain tube containing a coiled resistance wire 6, all the resistances being connected in series. The heaters are controlled by a hand switch, time switch and/or thermal switch and a thermometer may also be provided. Hinged clips, Fig. 5, are applied to the heated tubes with the finger-operated ends 21, 22 arranged downwards, so that cool air rising through perforations 14, 13 prevents undue heating of these parts. The clips are provided with strips 19, 20 of high specific heat and strips 23, 24, of heat insulation.
