Abstract

1532016 Resistance heater RAYMOND INDUSTRIAL Ltd 25 Feb 1976 07497/76 Heading H5H An electric heater for a hair dryer comprises a wire resistor 8 intermittently supported by an insulator 6 and a thermal sensor 9 mounted on the support 6, a portion 10 of the resistor 8 being looped towards the sensor 9. The sensor may be a bimetallic thermostat and/or a thermal fuse. Two thermostats operating at different temperatures may be utilized. The looped portion 10 is arranged upstream of the sensor so that overheating of the heater can be quickly arrested. Two concentric resistors 8 are provided connected in parallel. One or both may be energized. In Fig. 5, the resistor is supported in parallel runs 15 by spaced mica plates 13 secured in a plastics frame 12. A bimetallic thermostat 16 is mounted on a further mica plate 14 secured to frame 12 and a loop 17 of the resistor is attached adjacent the thermostat 16 by hooks 18. A thermal fuse may also be provided.
