Abstract
539,313. Electric resistance heaters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RYROFT, J. L. April 4, 1940. No. 6101. [Class 39 (iii)] Electric resistances used for heating air are supported by relatively thin wire supports whereby over-heating at these points due to shielding from the air current, is avoided. The heating element comprises two metal rods 1, 2 carrying a number of short ceramic sections 3, each with wires 5 cemented into holes 4, and projecting radially. These wires may be arranged about 90 degrees apart. The free ends of the wires are looped to support the coiled resistance wire 7. Terminal connections may be provided at the same or at opposite ends of the heater. The resistance wire is pre-formed as a close coil and extended to engage the loops 6. Specification 160,162, [Class 39 (iii)], is referred to.
