845,171. Drill-bits. WICKMAN (SOUTH AFRICA) (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Sept. 16, 1958 [Oct. 3, 1957; June 9, 1958], No. 29591/58. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIII] A drill bit for combined rotary and percussive drilling comprises a hard insert 2, Fig. 1, with a negative rake cutting edge 4 having an included angle of approximately 80 degrees on each oppositely disposed wing 1, joined by a cutting edge 5 of an included angle between 105 degrees and 115 degrees, which may be above or below the level of the cutting edges 4. The cutting edges 4 are radiused at 12 and backed off at 13. The cutting edges 4, 5 may be shaped as in Figs. 6 and 7.
