A deep hole, or tube drill, comprises main cutting edges 2, 3, and secondary cutting edges 6, 9, the edge 6 intersecting the axis of rotation 5, as an acute angle a not exceeding 25 degrees, all of the cutting edges being backed off. The edges may be formed on the drill, or on inserts, and a hole 15 is provided for supplying oil.
