Pleated paper is bent into the form of a hollow cylinder with the pleats extending axially and is stuck to metal end caps 9, 11. An elastomeric sealing ring 13 is clamped between the lower end cap 9 and the base of an outer casing 1, and a further, similar, sealing ring is clamped between the upper end cap 11 and a cover 3. Preferably perforate cylinders 7, 8 are provided, and preferably also the shell 1 is a standard ignition coil casing.
