Abstract

936,272. Lampshades. D. DUNCAN, and P. J. PRICE. June 18, 1962, No. 23404/62. Class 75 (2). In a lampshade of the type comprising a wire or like frame and a shade of pleated plastic, paper or other suitable material sufficiently stiff to maintain the pleated form, the pleats are formed with slots of substantially keyhole shape for the entry of the wire frame. In the form shown, the frame consists of upper and lower rings 1, 2 spaced apart by wires 3, and is of frusto-conical shape. The shade 4 is of pleated material with the ends overlapped and welded together. Keyhole slots 6 are formed in the inner apices of the pleats at the upper end and engage the ring 1. Similar slots 7 are formed in the outer apices of the pleats at the lower end and an elastic band 8 is inserted, holding the pleats in contact with the ring 2. In a modification, the slots are formed in the inner apices of the pleats at both ends and engage the rings 1, 2.
