Abstract
885,316. Lampshades. COLLINS, W. July 7, 1960 [July 14, 1959], No. 24140/59. Addition to 857,407. Class 75(2) The method of making a lampshade or like article as described in the parent Specification is modified by punching out a line of holes with or without a line or lines of slits to effect the weakening of the band of material transverse to the pleats. Two lines of holes may be provided staggered so that the holes 6, Fig. 4, of one line are situated on the inwardly extending apices of the pleats and those 7 of the other line are situated on the outwardly extending apices. Holes 9, Fig. 3, and slot forming apertures 10 are punched through the pleats at the upper end and holes 9 at the lower end and the shade is assembled on two rings 11, 12 joined by the rods 13 bent inwards at the level of the weakened band, the slots 10 engaging ring 11 and the pleats being gathered in adjacent the ring 12 by a cord through the holes 9. The weakened band 5 is drawn in by an ornamental band 8 round a smaller diameter ring 14 which fits into the slots formed by the line of holes 6 and which may be attached to an electric light fitting.
