Abstract

843,894. Typewriters. KIER, S. Aug. 27, 1958. No. 27464/58. Class 100(4) A typewriter comprises, a continuously running rotor 1 carrying a number of pivoted type bars 2 which swing outwardly to effect impression, and a locking disc 5 for each type bar which holds it in swung-in position but which releases its type bar when a projecting arm 12, connected to the locking disc, is engaged by a member moved in response to the actuation of a key. The locking disc 5 has a notch 6 holding the type bar in swung-in position and when the corresponding key is operated the projecting arm 12 is engaged to pivot an axle 10 on which a latch arm 11 is secured. This releases the disc 5 and the type bar swings out for impression; after impact, rebound or other control returns the type bar and disc 5 to initial position. There may be two rows of type bars arranged at a slight angle so impression is at one point, and when released may wipe against an ink pad or roller.
