900,486. Typewriters &c. OLYMPIA WERKE A.G. Dec. 24, 1958 [Jan. 18, 1958], No. 41755/58. Class 100 (4). A device for producing a repeated striking action in a type lever machine comprises a drive drum 16 which actuates the intermediate type levers 5 through a drive rocker 15 having a roller 14 which moves a bell-crank 4 and a link 6. Depression of a key lever 24 by a key 24a acts through a releasing lever 25 engaging an arm 15c of the rocker 15 first to pivot the carrier lever 20 to lower the pivot 15d and then, by contact of a segment 15a with the drive drum 16, causes the type lever to strike. Finally, the lever 4 moves away from the roller 14 as coaction of the surface 15a and drum 16 is completed allowing a spring 22 to restore the lever 20, thus preventing repeated operation, even if the key lever 24 is still depressed, unless a hand lever 32 is released and allows a continuous-action lever 28 to be pivoted anticlockwise by a spring 33 so that its stop 28b is contacted by a nose 15e of the rocker holding it so that the return of the lever 4 acting on the roller 14 pivots the lever 20 clockwise and the surface 15a is re-engaged with the drum 16 to cause a repeat actuation. Release of the key lever 24 or restoring of the hand lever 32 moves the continuous-action lever 28 out of the path of the nose 15a and repeated striking stops. Specification 900,485 is referred to.
