In a power-operated typewriter wherein each type-lever 20 is actuated by engagement of a cam 25 with a continuously-driven roller 21 and the duration of the engagement of the cam 25 with the roller 21 is determined by a stop member 30a or 30b, means is provided for adjusting all the stop members simultaneously according, e.g., to the number of copies required, and the stop members 30a corresponding to the larger type faces have concave operative edges 45 and those 30b corresponding to the smaller type faces have convex operating edges 46 so that the type levers have appropriate impules imparted to them according to the size of their type faces when an overall adjustment is effected. Each type-lever 20 is connected by a link 24 to an intermediate lever 23 to which is pivoted a member 22 carrying a cam 25. The lever 23 has a retracting spring 34 and a spring-connection 33 to member 22. On depression of a key 29, a pawl 28 on its lever 27 engages the member 22 so as to move the cam 25 into engagement with the roller 21 to operate a type-bar. The cam engagement is terminated by a stop member 30 which moves the cam and parts 22, 23 away from the roller 21. Each member 30 is pivoted at 32 to a block 31 and is held by a spring 38 against a screw 36 by which it can be individually adjusted. The block 31 is pivoted about the same axis 26 as the key levers 27, and a roller 41 thereon can be engaged with one of a number of recesses 40 in a manually-set member 39 to provide an overall adjustment for the stops 30.
