Abstract

The invention comprises a reaction product of a quaternary ammonium salt of the formula: <FORM:0842829/IV(b)/1> in which R is C7,21 alkyl, R1 and R11 ar C1-3 alkyl, R111 is alkyl, aralkyl or hydroxyalkyl, X is an organic or inorganic anion (e.g. chloride) and n is 2, 3 or 4, with zinc pentachlorophenolate in a molecular ratio of at least 2,5-1 respectively. The components of the reaction product are preferably combined at elevated temperatures, and the zinc pentachlorophenolate component may be formed in situ by reaction between zinc oxide and pentachlorophenol.ALSO:A soft hand is imparted to textile materials such as cotton fabric by impregnating them with an aqueous or aqueous acetic acid solution of a reaction product of a quaternary ammonium salt of the formula: <FORM:0842829/IV (c)/1> in which R is C7-21 alkyl, R1 and R11 are C1-3 alkyl, R111 is alkyl, aralkyl or hydroxyalkyl, X is an organic or inorganic anion and n is 2, 3 or 4, with zinc pentachlorophenolate in a molecular ratio of at least 2,5 : 1 respectively.ALSO:A pesticidal composition giving protection against termites and fungal attack comprises an aqueous or aqueous acetic acid solution of a reaction product of a quaternary ammonium salt of the formula: <FORM:0842829/VI/1> in which R is C7-21 alkyl, R1 and R11 are C1-3 alkyl, R111 is alkyl, aralkyl or hydroxyalkyl, X is an organic or inorganic anion and n is 2, 3 or 4, with zinc pentachlorophenolate in a molecular ratio of at least 2,5:1 respectively.
