Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1096441/C2/1> and their non-toxic addition and quaternary salts, wherein W and X are each H, halogen, C1- 8 alkoxy, C1- 8 alkyl or CF3 and n is 0 or 1; when n is 0, Y is any of the radicals <FORM:1096441/C2/2> where R1 is H, C1- 8 alkyl or phenyl-C1- 8-alkyl, and when n is 1, Y is any of the above radicals (except that the piperidine and pyridine nuclei may be Me-substituted) or additionally any of the following <FORM:1096441/C2/3> These compounds are prepared by reacting the appropriate metal benzylphenate with Z(CH2)nY where Z is halogen or p-toluenesulphonate; alternatively, the compounds not containing halogen may be made by hydrogenation of the corresponding halogen-containing compounds.
