Abstract

842,474. Seaming. DURIE & MILLER Ltd. Nov. 4, 1958 [Oct. 1, 1957], No. 30723/57. Class 42 (1). Carpets 1, 2 are joined edge to edge by means of a T-section strip 6 of which the web 7 is interposed between and adhesively secured to, the opposed carpet edges and of which the flange 8 is adhesively secured to the undersurfaces of the meeting edges. Strip 6 may be of rubber or polyvinylchloride extruded to the required shape; or it may be formed from fabric tape. The strip may be self-adhesive, or an adhesive based on rubber latex, reclaim dispersion or a synthetic resin emulsion may be applied at the time of joining. The invention is particularly applicable to carpets having a backing 3 of foamed rubber.
