Abstract

1381473 Attaching sliding clasp fasteners to garments &c TEXTRON Inc 17 July 1973 [18 July 1972] 33928/73 Heading E2S A sliding clasp fastener installation comprises a pair of fabric sections 26, 38 defining an opening 14 therebetween, an edge portion 30, 32 of each section being folded back on itself and having a plurality of voids 38, 40 therein, a sliding clasp fastener 12 having a pair of tapes 16, 18 each in superposition with a folded back edge portion and adhesive means 22, 24 communicating through the voids and bonding the carrier tapes to their respective fabric sections. As shown, the adhesive means are strips of thermosetting or thermoplastic material or may be in liquid, solid or gel form or may be pre-applied to the fastener or applied to the fabric or fastener during installation. Other configurations of voids which may be used are described with reference to Figs. 4a-7e (not shown).
