[Also in Group XXXVI] A potential equalizing coating having a pronounced voltage-dependent resistivity is applied to the surface of insulation surrounding a high voltage conductor. The coating, which may be of silicon carbide suspended in a thermosetting resin, e.g. an epoxy resin, is particularly applicable to the coil ends of dynamo-electric machines. It may be applied directly to the insulation or first applied to a tape which is then lapped on to the insulation.
