Abstract

841,994. Staples. HIRST, J. Oct. 29, 1956 [Oct. 29, 1955], No. 30992/55. Class 89(2). A staple 12, Fig. 1, has tapered-legs 11 joined together by a bridge 14, and a head 10 projecting from the bridge in the opposite direction to the limbs and protruding, when the staple is fullydriven, for engagement by a removal-tool. The sides of the head may have indentations 16 to receive plier-jaws. The staple is particularly for securing barbed-wire, and may have a hole 20 to support, in addition, a smooth-wire. In a modification, one leg 23, Fig. 3, is shorter than the other 22. In another arrangement for holding two wires, the staple has a central-leg 30, Fig. 6, with a shorter-leg 33 on each side.
