Abstract

A composition for application to the tip of a welding electrode (see Group XXII) is:- .iron powder.50-90% .amorphous calcium carbonate.5-20% .cryolite.5-20% .white titanium oxide.0-5% .sodium alginate.0-5% and sodium silicate as a binder. Other suggested constituents are ferro-alloys such as ferro-aluminium or ferro-silicon, bismuth, cobalt, nickel, silver, tin, cadmium and arc stabilizers such as potassium silicate, potassium oxalate, potassium carbonate or alkali rare earth metals.
