Abstract

922,787. Welding by fusion. YAWATA YOSETSUBO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. July 31, 1959 [Oct. 31, 1958 (2) ; April 22,1959 (2)], No. 26405/59. Class 83 (4). The core wire 1 of a flux coated arc welding electrode is of spiral cross-section with a substantially cylindrical external surface and is provided internally with a spiral void 4, which is filled with flux. The core wire is of mild steel, stainless steel, copper or other metal. The flux filling may comprise slag forming agents, gas generating agents, arc stabilizers, deoxidizers and alloying agents. Specified constituents are oxides, fluorides, organic substances, limestone, sodium or potassium carbonate and iron powder. Specified filling compositions are: 50% iron powder, 50% limestone, 70% aluminium, 30% barium carbonate.
