Abstract

An electro-gas arc welding procedure for steels of the type that ranges from mild steels to high-strength steels of class 50 kg/mm2 where a consumable type of composite continuous electrode, with a tubular sheath made of a strap, contains a powdered composition of a metal powder and slagging agents therein, the amount of said powdered composition ranging from 1.5 to 60% by weight, calculated on the total weight of said compound electrode and said electrode in its entirety is constituted, as a percentage by weight, not more than 0.3% carbon, from 0.8 to 3.0% manganese, from 0.1 to 1.0 silicon, from 0.05 to 0.8% molybdenum and from 0.001 to 0.3% titanium, the rest being essentially iron with the exception of slagging agents, characterized in that within said sheath there is at least titanium among said metallic components, in powder form.
