Abstract
841,425. Washing granular materials; sorting solid materials. GARRATY, C. J., and SAMPSON, R. Aug. 10, 1956 [Aug. 16, 1955; March 5, 1956; May 30, 1956], No. 24507/56. Classes 82(2) and 117 Minerals and similar heavy materials are concentrated in either the dry or wet conditions by an apparatus having at least one rotating conical vessel 10 on an inclined axle 11 part of which is hollow and. communicates with the interior of the vessel 10 by a port 30. One fraction is thus discharged through the shaft into the hopper 31 and the tailings pass over the edge .75 of the vessel. A plate 21 may be used to assist the separation and the vessels may have various contours of inner surface to assist the action. Several vessels are preferably employed as shown and for such separation the whole apparatus may be mounted in a tank of water.
