Class 141 A foundation garment comprises an elastic girdle provided internally at the front with a loose, vertically stretchable, elastic panel 1 attached to the front of the girdle only at its upper and lower edge. The upper side edges 1a of the panel are secured indirectly to the side seams 4 by obliquely disposed elastic strips 5 which may be extended around the back of the girdle adjacent the upper edge, being connected to the girdle only at the side seams and at the centre of the back.
