Abstract
945,383 Foundation garments. POIRETTE CORSETS Inc. July 27, 1960 [Nov. 4, 1959], No. 26189/60. Heading A3V. A girdle, panty girdle corselet &c. is provided with horizontally stretchable elastic side panels comprising separate upper and lower parts 13, 15 stitched together along an inclined line 31, the adjacent margins 13a, 15a of the two parts being turned back so that their direction of stretch is inclined at an angle to the horizontal direction of stretch of the parts 13, 15. The turned-back reinforcements 13a, 15a are secured by zig-zag stitching 13b, 15b. The side panels may include intermediate parts between the upper and lower parts 13, 15, the parts being similarly connected together with their adjacent margins turned back. The side panels may be provided at the front or back of the garment or may extend into both the front and back in which case they may be formed integrally or joined at the side edges. The girdle &c. also includes polygonal front panels 10, 11 of elastic or inelastic material, and upper and lower back panels connected along a line of inverted V-shape.
