Abstract

840,603. Door stays. HAPPICH G.m.b. H., GEB. June 3, 1958 [July 19, 1957], No. 17732/58. Class 65(1). A door stay has an arm 3 co-operating with resiliently mounted clamping rollers 9 which bear against the arm from opposite sides, the rollers being mounted in guide channels 7 extending at an acute angle to the arm so that the rollers exert a more powerful clamping action on the arm when the stay moves in one direction relative to the roller housing than when it moves in the other. The channels are defined by the walls of interfitting arched members 11, 12 fastened to a base plate 13 which has lugs 14 bent up to close the housing. Slots 15, 16 in the arched members and a slot 18 in the base plate are provided for the passage of the arm, the edges of which run on lugs 19 formed at the ends of the slot 18. Lugs 17 formed at the ends of the slot 15 maintain the braking rollers apart when the arm is removed. A buffer 5 is provided at the free end of the arm, which end is undulated to increase the clamping force exerted by the rollers on the arm when the associated door is fully open.
