840,276. Hypodermic implantation devices. ARNOLD & SONS VETERINARY INSTRUMENTS Ltd., and LOVE, D. S. Nov. 20, 1958 [Nov. 20, 1.957], No. 36205/57. Class 81 (2). A hypodermic pellet introducer comprises a tube 10 having a plunger 11 and a tubular needle 13 and means slidably supporting a removable pellet carrier 22 between the plunger and the needle. The needle is secured to the tube 10 in axial alignment with the plunger 11 which is normally held in retracted position by a spring 12. A U-shaped holder 21 for a pellet carrier is retained by projections 25, 26 in a slot 19 in the body. The carrier, which is made of transparent resinous material, has a series of transverse holes 23 in each of which is a pellet 24. In use, the carrier is pulled through the slot 19 from the holder so that one pellet at a time can be ejected from the carrier by the plunger and discharged through the needle. A spring detent 28 on the holder engages one of a series of serrations 27 on the carrier and thus holds the carrier so that one pellet at a time is aligned with the plunger. Each hole 23 is stepped at one end and has a small lip at the other end to retain the pellet. The tube 10 has a pellet observation hole 29.
