Abstract

Herbicidal compositions comprise 2,3,6-trichlorobenzoic acid or its salts, e.g. sodium, potassium, lithium, calcium, barium, magnesium, aluminium, iron, zinc, manganese, cadmium, butylamine, octylamine, 2-ethylhexyl - amine, di - (2 - ethyl - hexyl) amine, triethanolamine and aniline and methyl aniline or mixtures thereof and also as an inert carrier or diluent a liquid organic solvent, an aqueous medium containing a wetting or emulsifying agent, or a particulate solid carrier, e.g. diatomaceous earth, fuller's earth, bentonite or clay vermiculite, ion-exchange organic resin or an ion-exchange inorganic clay, the proportion of active ingredient to carrier being such as to provide a composition suitable for herbicidal application in the field. The acid or its salt may be present as a mixture of isomeric trichlorobenzoic acids (or their salts) containing 60-70% of the 2,3,6-isomer. Specifications 817,173 and 817,174 are referred to.
