Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate of insecticide, herbicide, fungicide, dye, liquid crystal, etc., easily, in high purity and yield, by reacting an α,α,α-trihalomethylphenyl ester with ammonia or aqueous ammonia.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula II is prepared by reacting (A) 1mol of an α,α,α-trihalomethylphenyl ester (e.g. α,α,α-trichloromethylphenyl) of formula I (R is H, halogen, or nitro; X is halogen; Y is organic or inorganic acid residue; m and n are positive integers provided that m+n=5; p is positive integer corresponding to the bond valence of Y), with (B) 5W300mol of ammonia or aqueous ammonia, at -20W+200°C for 0.5W10hr.
