Abstract

839,262. Pipe couplings. AVICA EQUIPMENT Ltd., and MILLAR, J. H. Sept. 3, 1958 [Sept. 5, 1957], No. 28077/57. Class 99(1). A corrugated metal tube 1, preferably reinforced by a braided metal cover 2, has its terminal corrugations compressed to form a block 5 which is welded to the cover 2 and to an end fitting comprising a spigot 3 and ferrule 4. The ferrule 4 may be swaged on to the tube and reinforcement at 4b. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, a gripper 8 is fitted to the tube 1 and may be roughened on its outer surface to grip the reinforcement 2 of braided metal wire. The metal for welding can be provided by the flange 9 or can be a separate annular ring. A further embodiment has the ferrule 4 and reinforcement 2 extending past the block 5 to cover the rim of the flange 9.
