Abstract

839,038. Tape dispensers. OWENSMITH, A. S. L. July 15, 1957 [July 17, 1956], No. 22094/56. Addition to 771,839. Class 18. In a device for dispensing predetermined lengths of adhesive tape as described in the parent Specification the severing means are disposed further from the rocker fulcrum than is the drum axis. The device may also be in the form of an adaptor, lacking a tape reel support, but attachable to a fixed-cutter dispenser. as shown in Fig. 1. A guide-roller Z may be provided, and the flap S may be spring-actuated. Other variations include the provision of a finger-guard by the cutter blade, resilient stop-means to limit the release movement of the rocker, open-ended slots in the outer casing for insertion of the drum journals and a window or other opening at one side of the casing for facilitating application of the tape to the drum. In addition, drums of different diameter may be freely interchanged in order to vary the perdetermined lengths to be dispensed. The flap S and the underlying support on the casing may be transversely arched in order to stiffen the free end of the tape.
