Abstract

The roll of tape is laid on a horizontal partition inside a box beneath a lid. Its end is passed through a slot in the partition and then through two sets of rollers to the outlet slot. The two pairs of rollers are geared together and rotated by a handwheel (1). Two of the four rollers are on pivot mountings. When the required length of tape has been unwound, it is cut free by moving a blade support block across the case. This rotates a pinion inside the block against a rack, and the resulting pinion rotation imparts a complex oscillating and pivoting motion to the blade.
