Abstract

838,701. Cleaning glazing bars. BAGSHAWE, P. P. July 13, 1956 [July 19, 1955], No. 20795/55. Class 138(1). A glazing bar cleaning machine comprises a body 11, Fig. 2, with wire bristle brush means so disposed as to provide two sets of bristles 25, Fig. 3, pointing inwardly towards each other with the tips of the bristles separated so that they bear against the sides 26a of the glazing bar 26 and a further set 37 pointing towards the space between the sets of bristles 25 so as to bear on the top surface 26b of the bar 26, whereby all three surfaces of the bar 26 are simultaneously cleaned as the body 11 is traversed along the bar. The body 11 is formed of two bars 12 each having an angular recess 21 in which a brush 23, having the bristles 25, is secured by screws 24. At their rear ends 12a, the bars 12 have lugs 15 adjustably slidable by set screws 16 on a rod 13 and towards the front ends have lugs 18 adjustably slidable by set screws 19 on a rod 17 carrying wheels 20. The backing 32 for the third brush is pivotally supported at its rear end on the rod 13 by levers 34 and towards its front end it is pivotally mounted at 33 on the outer ends of levers 30 secured to the rod 17 to which is also secured a handle 38. A socket 39 pivoted on the rod 13 and provides with a stop member 41 to abut the rear ends 12a, receives a long adjustable handle 40. By manipulation of the screws 16, 19 and rotating the rod 17 in the lugs 18 by means of the handle 38, the brush bristles may be adjusted relatively to each other, the bristles 37 extending between the gaps in the bristles 25. According to the Provisional Specification the third brush 32, 37 may be spring-loaded.
