Abstract

1388557 Floor cleaning machines R G DIXON & CO Ltd 16 Aug 1972 [27 Sept 1971] 44928/71 Heading A4F A floor cleaning machine, such as the illustrated floor scrubbing and drying machine, has a brush unit 10 rigidly mounted on a main body 6 rockably mounted on a wheeled chassis 1 to enable the brush unit 10 to be lifted clear of the floor whilst the chassis 1 remains in position with its wheels 2 engaging the floor, the rocking movement being effected by a linkage including a toggle which goes over-centre when the brush unit 10 is clear of the floor. To raise the brush unit 10 the body 6 is tilted about an axis 7 by the actuation of toggle links 23, 24 by a handle 14 via linkage 16, 17, 21. Spring dampers 8 support the forward end of the body 6. A suction nozzle 9 is provided for drying the floor.
