Abstract

948,356. Floor cleaning machines. HOOVER Ltd. Nov. 22, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 40171/60. Heading A4F. A floor cleaning machine for cleaning floors or floor coverings includes a detachably mounted tank 25 of U-section straddling the operating handles 19, and an auxiliary container 29 detachably supported between the limbs of the tank 25. The container 29 may consist of a collapsible tube containing solvent-based wax polish to be removed from the machine, opened, and squeezed to distribute the polish over a floor surface. The tank 25 may contain a liquid shampoo for cleaning a carpet or a water-based wax for polishing a floor. When the machine is used for shampooing a carpet the polishing brushes are replaced by shampoo brushes of the construction described in Specification 948,357.
