Abstract

838,222. Drying systems. FLIEDER, J. Oct. 8, 1956 [Oct. 8, 1955], No. 30592/56. Class 34(2) The heat in the vapour evolved in a timber &c. drying chamber 1, Fig. 1, having a heating coil 1a is recovered by entrainment of the vapour in a current of air circulated by a fan 5 through a shower cooler or condenser 6 in counterflow to the cooling water which is circulated by a pump 8 through a heating coil 11 and returned to the cooler. The coil may be used to heat material to be dried or for other heating purposes. The pressure in the air and water circuits may be maintained constant by the water level in a tank 10 having an overflow. Droplets of water in the air are eliminated in a separator 9. Fig. 2 shows a plant for drying loose materials in two stages I, II, the stage II being heated by a coil la, while stage 1 is heated by the coil 11 associated with the cooling water circuit of stage II. The material is transported from the inlet 12 of stage I to the outlet 13 of stage II by conveyer belts. In another plant, the stages I, II, Fig. 3, form a tunnel drier for ceramic material which is thus dried at a moderate temperature in stage I and a higher temperature in stage II.
