Abstract

A heat pump which can be used to recuperate heat for drying material such as wood or other hydroscopic material has an evaporator operating in a heat exchange condition in an air circulating circuit, which includes the material to be dried. Refrigerant passing through it, enters a compressor then a first condenser followed by another condenser with the air flowing through it and heated by it. The liquid refrigerant is collected by a tank before it is passed to a sub cooler in series with the evaporator. This sub cooler and the evaporator are in series with the air flow. The heat is recuperated from the condenser and used to dry the material and the cool wet air first flows through the evaporator then the sub cooler.
