Abstract
An environmental control system, preferably for a swimming pool hall, has four control modes, namely dry bulb air temperature control, humidity control, controlled selection of fresh air intake in response to a comparison of enthalpies of the recirculated air and of the non-recirculated admitted air, and control of the condensing pressure of refrigerant in a heat pump system. The air conditioning system comprises a heat pump system including a multi-stage switchable cooler (8); a multi-stage switchable heater (18); a hot water heat-exchanger (19); and a closed circuit "run around circuit" water system (7, 6, 16). The condenser (22) of the heat pump system uses the pool water as its heat sink.
