Abstract
838,183. Spark arresters. TYDENS PATENTER A.B. May 5, 1958 [May 14, 1957; Jan. 31, 1958], No. 14338/58. Class 25 A spark extinguisher for an I.C. engine comprises a casing having two edgewise united parts a, b, Figs. 1, 2, forming a tapering constriction e along the periphery and a tangential inlet c through which exhaust gases from the engine are conducted such that glowing carbon particles contained therein are thrown with a rotary motion into the constriction e to be ground to dust before leaving the casing in the gases through a centrally connetted conduit d, which accommodates apertured discs h and may, as shown in dotted lines, open into the centre of the casing. In a modification the parts a, b, are oval whilst in another form the exhaust gases are introduced centrally through a pipe f, Fig. 4, having a guiding device g.
