Abstract

838,134. Textile stop-motion. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., E. Aug. 18, 1958 [Sept. 19, 1957], No. 29470/57. Class 120(2) In a stop-motion for use (e.g. in twistdoubling or crimping) where a number of yarns each retaining a detector pass simultaneously along adjacent paths between two common cutting-members, one of which is movable, and in which, when one detector is released by yarn-failure it moves the movable cutting-member to engage the other to sever the remaining yarn(s), to facilitate re-threading, means are provided to support the detectors where they are neither retained by their respective yarns nor in engagement with the movable member, the same means serving to hold the movable member clear of the yarn paths. In a form where the yarns follow vertical paths, each detector 9 is urged by a weight 10 and shares a common pivot 14 with a cutting-member 2 co-operating with an anvil 3: when a yarn fails, the corresponding detector falls so that a part 6 thereon strikes a part 15 on the cutter 2 so that it engages the anvil to sever the yarn. For re-threading, a pivoted member 8 can be raised to engage projections 18 to support the detectors and engage the part 15 to support the cutting- member. In a horizontal arrangement, the detectors are in the form of slidable fallers, and the part 2 in the form of a bell-crank, one arm of which is engageable by a faller and the other carries the cutter. The re-setting member is similar to that already described.
