Abstract
837,332. Drying and pressing garments. PARIS, A. F. Sept. 9, 1957, No. 28434/57. Class 34(1) Apparatus for pressing and finishing a garment, e.g. an overcoat, comprises a base A, Fig. 1, containing a heating unit and means for delivering air or steam upwards through the open top thereof, and a rotatable tubular post 27, Fig. 1A, mounted on the base and supporting a telescopic shoulder support adjustable to suit the shape &c. of the garment and substantially enclosed by a metal casing comprising a collar 32, a perforate breast-plate 33 heated by a steam pipe on the back thereof, a perforate plate 34 and a conical member having a perforate upper part 51. The base also supports sleeve clamps C, a clamp D for pressing the front edges of the coat and clamps F for the tail. The garment is enclosed in a permeable bag 200, Fig. 28, e.g. of nylon cloth, and supported on the base A. The shoulder support comprises a member 35, Fig. 20, a vertical adjustment shaft 36 carrying a pinion 37 engaging toothed racks 44, 44<SP>1</SP> mounted on tubular members 41. Each clamp C comprises hinged plates 107, 122, Fig. 2, the former of which 107 is mounted on a tubular member 100 slidable on a member 96 adjustably supported on a plate 92 secured to an angle bracket 18 mounted on the base A.
