Abstract
836,800. Automatic position control systems. SANGAMO WESTON Ltd. June 14, 1956 [June 20, 1955], No. 18443/56. Class 38 (4). A body 27, Fig. 8, at least partly formed of magnetic material which may include a permanent magnet, is supported in free space by a magnet 22, which may be a permanent magnet or an electromagnet, and deviation in the position of the body develops in a surrounding coil 29, separate from the body, an electrical signal which is applied through a D.C. amplifier 26 to energize a second separate surrounding coil 28 which corrects the position of the body. Amplifier 26 is provided with positive feedback through a resistor Rf. Any motion of the body is damped by induction in a conductive plate 35. Application of the invention to the suspension of charged bodies to reduce insulation leakage in electrical apparatus is referred to.
