836,677. Folding hoods. WEATHERSHIELDS Ltd. May 7, 1958 [Jan. 10, 1958], No. 973/58. Class 108(1) A folding hood of the type comprising a main transverse hoop stick pivotally mounting one or more auxiliary hoop sticks, and having the front edge of the hood fabric connected to the top of the windscreen frame and the rear edge to the rear end of the body, has the ends of the main hoop 12 slidably mounted in sockets 13 containing springs 15 urging the sticks upwardly to maintain the fabric in a stretched condition. Pegs 17 slidable in slots 18 may be provided where the hood stick is non-detachable, and a lever 19 may be pivoted to engage a pin 20 so that the main hoop may be held down against the springs whilst the fabric is being attached to the windscreen and rear end. In a modification, Fig. 3, limit screws 29 may be removed to permit the hoop stick to be taken out of its sockets and the tubular hood stick 22 is provided with cylindrical spigoted bars 23 at its ends.
