Class 52(2) An adjustable invalid bed has back and leg rests 2, 3 hingedly connected at 4, 5 to a seat portion 1 pivoted at 5 to a frame 11, the back rest 2 being connected at each side to the leg rest 3 by pivoted bars 6, 7, 8. Radius arms 18 pivoted to the back rest and the frame 11 limit movement of the back rest and movement of the parts .is caused by an hydraulic jack 19 or an electric motor 25 (Fig. 2) which rotates a screwed rod 26 engaging with a nut 27 carrying a pivotal arm 28 attached to back rest 2. To allow individual adjustment of the back rest the length of bar 7 may be adjusted by means of telescopic parts 35, 36 having holes 37 for a locking pin (Fig. 4).
